Medal Of Honor: Airborne - Review
October 15, 2008
Medal of Honor Airborne was a new experience that mixes your traditional WW2 shooter with the new element of parachuting out of a plane onto the battlefield. I must admit I have been getting tired of the mundane WW2 shooters but this game definitely encourages me give the genre another chance. The most interesting part of the game, as you can guess, is the parachuting. While the controls for the parachuting are a little difficult to control at first, over time you will get used to it and be able to land almost anywhere within range. If you are not experienced FPS, you should land in the green drop zones, as there are no enemies there. If you land anywhere else, you will most likely be surrounded by Nazi forces. Another interesting aspect of this game is the weapon load out. I enjoyed being able to pick what weapons I wanted to bring on the various missons. The new weapon upgrade system to this game is rather disappointing when you get enough kills with a weapon to get the upgrade. Another rather disappointing part to this game is the Campaign mode is too short. It is only six levels long . Though each level will take you about 30 to 45 minutes each, it will still leave you wanting more. Also, the game really does not heat up until the last three levels. The first three are really easy and a little boring. The online play is ok, you get to parachute down to the battlefield but its still no Call of Duty 4. The online levels felt too small to me. They took a level from the game, like most FPS, and made it smaller but I feel as if they made the levels too small as I found that most players wound up doing the same exact thing to accomplish the small map. I also found the weapons difficult to aim to do high recoil. Especially in the automatic weapons obviously. The controls are pretty much the same as most 1st person shooters. They are really simple and you will know them in no time. All and all this is a very solid game defiantly worth picking up.
My Rating is a
7
