How to Maintain Your New (or Old) Vehicle!

December 1, 2008

PhotobucketSo some of us have cars that we love and some of us have cars we just use to get from point A to B. Either side of the coin you still need to maintain your vehicle in order to keep it proper condition, here’s how:

1st: Change your oil. Plain and simple. In order for your car to function efficiently, it needs to be a well oiled. This is something you need to do on a regular 3,000 mile or 3 month basis. If this is the first time someone has told you to do this then chances are its time for the oil to be changed.

  • The first step to changing your oil is to see what type your engine needs. This can be done by simply reading the owners manual. For example, the oil I use is 10/30 Penzoil. There should be two numbers separated by a backslash.

  • The next step is to find a reputable place to get your oil changed, that’s important because you don’t want just anybody touching your car. The best thing to do is to ask people you know and trust, where they go to get theirs change. Most places change the oil, the filter, and clean the air filter for anywhere from $20 to $45 depending on your vehicle and what type of oil is needed.

  • The final step is to get some kind of reminder of your next oil change. Most places (if their good will give you a sticker siting the time for your next oil change. So be sure to pay close attention to that as you drive month to month. Matter of fact, I think it’s time for mine to be changed, so i’m out! Be sure to get with me for Part Two!!
