How to deal with difficult people

Dealing with difficult people can be a stressful task, especially if you have to work or go to school with them. So here’s a few tips when dealing with these types of people:

• Ignore them. It might seem like a cliche thing to but it does work. Think of it like the rodent that plays dead when attacked, the attacking animal grows bored, then moves on the its next prey. Not to say you have to play dead lol, but if you are indifferent to your attackers they’ll too become bored. They want to get a rise out of you, if they can’t then its on to the next victim, unfortunately.
• Don’t try to match their aggression, it’ll only make things worse. It’ll be kind of like your own little Cold War by always trying to see who has the bigger guns, ultimately leading the a unwanted ending regardless. Instead, like mom always told me, kill them with kindness.
• It’s not your fault. A lot of times when people act in such a manner it is simply due to the fact that something is not going right in the their personal lives, thus leaving them to dish out such anger at you!
• Finally, like stated before, don’t match their aggression. Do stand up for yourself but at the same time don’t let them walk all over you. I know what you’re thinking, “how do I know when which is which?” Well i’m going to be honest it is a thin line but heres how to tell the difference: 

            When that difficult person makes a snide remark about what you are wearing, smirk and kill them            with silence. The psychology behind it is that you want them to know you hear them but it doesn’t                mean anything to you and they are not worth the time.

            When that difficult person tries to manipulate you, you let them know from the get-go that you                refuse to stand for it. Don’t raise your voice, look them in the eye, be firm, and be strong, not                      violently, but verbally.
