How to Manage Your Car Part Duex!!
December 15, 2008 by rockag89 · Leave a Comment
Finally, I got your second tip on the keeping up with your first love! It may not be your first love but, as i’ve stated before it IS your main source of transportation so you got to make sure you take care of it. So here we go:
Proper tire maintenance!!!
Most people don’t realize the importance of checking your tires and the pressure in them, but it is important! Remember the days when you got that new bike, only to find that two weeks after riding it every day and all day that you need an air pump to keep you rolling. Well, the same applies to your car. Instead of those small two wheels, you got four big wheels to look after. Here’s some tips to help you maintain those tires on your whip and why you need to do so:
1st- Check your tire pressure first and foremost. The way to figure out what PSI, Pounds (of air) per Square Inch your tire needs is to look on the inside of one of the front doors. This way you don’t put too little or too much air in your tire, which can be hazardous to you and the passengers in the vehicle because it could easily cause a blowout.
2nd- The next step is to, if needed, take it to the nearest gas station and fill up the tire to the recommended amount. Personally, I would recommend that you buy a tire gauge from your local auto or convenience store. They are relatively cheap and save you the hassle of a wrong reading on the meter provided by the air pump.
3rd- The next step is critical. It is to maintain the proper amount of air in the tire by checking the amount every other time you hit the gas station and before any long trip.
4th- Another often overlooked aspect of tire maintenance is to inspect the tires after driving for long periods of time. Sometimes when driving we tend to hit unexpected and sometimes unnoticed items in the road, which makes it more than crucial to check the tire for any damage or items that could have punctured it such as screws. Now, if your tire does have an item lodged into it, if the puncture is small enough, you can have a tire repair shop plug it or you can plug it your self.
5th- Balance and rotate the tires regularly. Rotating the tires saves you in the long run from having to constantly replace tires, because it gives each tire a new job to do, rather than staying in that one spot having a certain tire wear out before the others do. Balancing comes in handy because there is a good chance that you potholes and bumps that you cant miss, this throws your tires out of balance, causing the tires to wear unevenly. This could lead to unsafe driving conditions because if you run into a situation where your front tires don’t have the proper tread and most of your vehicles braking is done by the front wheels, then you wont have the necessary braking power that you might need incase of an emergency.
6th- After all that tire care, you need to know when it is time to completely change the tire. The way to find out is by looking at the tread, if the wheel is bald or near bald then it is more than likely time to change tires. You can start by seeing the size you need. This can be done by simply looking on the tire’s sidewall or you can go to somewhere like Discount Tires where they could get you squared away.
7th- The last step is to repeat the all of the above steps once your new tires are on your car.
Stay tuned. More tips on the way baby!!!
How to Maintain Your New (or Old) Vehicle!
December 1, 2008 by rockag89 · Leave a Comment
So some of us have cars that we love and some of us have cars we just use to get from point A to B. Either side of the coin you still need to maintain your vehicle in order to keep it proper condition, here’s how:
1st: Change your oil. Plain and simple. In order for your car to function efficiently, it needs to be a well oiled. This is something you need to do on a regular 3,000 mile or 3 month basis. If this is the first time someone has told you to do this then chances are its time for the oil to be changed.
-
The first step to changing your oil is to see what type your engine needs. This can be done by simply reading the owners manual. For example, the oil I use is 10/30 Penzoil. There should be two numbers separated by a backslash.
-
The next step is to find a reputable place to get your oil changed, that’s important because you don’t want just anybody touching your car. The best thing to do is to ask people you know and trust, where they go to get theirs change. Most places change the oil, the filter, and clean the air filter for anywhere from $20 to $45 depending on your vehicle and what type of oil is needed.
-
The final step is to get some kind of reminder of your next oil change. Most places (if their good will give you a sticker siting the time for your next oil change. So be sure to pay close attention to that as you drive month to month. Matter of fact, I think it’s time for mine to be changed, so i’m out! Be sure to get with me for Part Two!!

How to deal with difficult people

Dealing with difficult people can be a stressful task, especially if you have to work or go to school with them. So here’s a few tips when dealing with these types of people:
- Ignore them. It might seem like a cliche thing to but it does work. Think of it like the rodent that plays dead when attacked, the attacking animal grows bored, then moves on the its next prey. Not to say you have to play dead lol, but if you are indifferent to your attackers they’ll too become bored. They want to get a rise out of you, if they can’t then its on to the next victim, unfortunately.
- Don’t try to match their aggression, it’ll only make things worse. It’ll be kind of like your own little Cold War by always trying to see who has the bigger guns, ultimately leading the a unwanted ending regardless. Instead, like mom always told me, kill them with kindness.
- It’s not your fault. A lot of times when people act in such a manner it is simply due to the fact that something is not going right in the their personal lives, thus leaving them to dish out such anger at you!
- Finally, like stated before, don’t match their aggression. Do stand up for yourself but at the same time don’t let them walk all over you. I know what you’re thinking, “how do I know when which is which?” Well i’m going to be honest it is a thin line but heres how to tell the difference:
When that difficult person makes a snide remark about what you are wearing, smirk and kill them with silence. The psychology behind it is that you want them to know you hear them but it doesn’t mean anything to you and they are not worth the time.
When that difficult person tries to manipulate you, you let them know from the get-go that you refuse to stand for it. Don’t raise your voice, look them in the eye, be firm, and be strong, not violently, but verbally.
How to speak more, um, effectively!

Some of us love to idea of being able to have a fountain of words flow out of our mouths without all the, um, pauses. Here’s how:
- Slow down when you talk. Believe it or not people actually are willing to listen more if you speak more slowly. Now that’s not to say speeeeeak liiiiiiike thiiiiiis, but use more caution as far as how fast you speak. It’ll eliminate you saying irrelevant material, ultimately losing listeners along the way. Also, people will remember more of what you say. This will help reduce your ums and uhhs.
- Think about what you are going to say. Thinking about what you are going to say will also reduce the chances of you using ums, uhhs, and other things of that nature. Believe it or not, those are actually speaking impediments.
- Project your voice. If you project your voice your group of listeners will actually be compelled to hear you speak simply because when you project your voice, you project confidence, which is a very attractive trait.
- Finally, increase your vocabulary. Now you don’t have to run to the dictionary to find the biggest words, but it’s time to upgrade your vocab. Trust me, when you’re young and you are speaking to older folks, you’ll actually gain rapport amongst them because they percieve you as having an older mindset or even being older than you actually are.
All these practices, with practice and you’ll be well on your way to being a great orator.
How to save on gas
November 3, 2008 by rockag89 · Leave a Comment
If you’re like me, you pay out your pocket to put gas in your car, and the way gas prices are you probably aren’t to proud of the money being spent to do so. Here are a few tips that can save you in the long run:
1. Check your tire pressure:
- This is a very important aspect to good gas mileage, because the harder the engine has to work to move the car the more gas is used. Get a PSI meter stick, they cost you $2 at your local auto parts store. Some of your gas stations even have a PSI meter on they’re air pump. Use this tool make sure your tires are at the correct pressure, to know the recommended PSI there’s a label on the inside of your door to be sure, if not check the owner’s manual.
2. It’s Not A Race
- When you’re at a light you don’t have to act like your running a race and be the first one off. When speeding up be sure to slightly gain speed, rather than stomping on the pedal.
3. Take the highway if possible
- Taking the highway is usually the best solution to saving on gas and also allowing you to sometimes get to your destination faster. Reason why? When you’re driving through the city you’re constantly braking and feeding the engine gasoline. On the highway more often than not you’re at a constant speed, especially if you have cruise control. It also helps, cruise control or not, if you stay around 60 mph when using the highway, because studies show driving over that you are more likely to burn fuel faster.
