Spider Man Web of Shadows

Prepare for a swinging good time in the newest installment in the Spider Man series. Web of Shadows is probably the best Spider Man game I have ever played. The game takes place in New York City .The story is awesome, pretty much what happens is Venom spreads his symbiote around which turns the citizens of New York into mini venom’s. Don’t want to give away too much. As you probably can tell this is an original story so it has nothing to do with any of the movies. A cool feature added to this game is the ability to switch from the red suit and black suit. This ability is quite easy with just the push of a button. So there’s no more battling to get the black suit off like in Spider Man 3. Another cool feature that goes with the suits is the upgrade system. It is very easy to use, you get points for defeating enemies and completing missions. Another cool feature is the choice system. At key points in the game you will be given a decision to follow the red path, which is good, and the black path, which is bad. Depending on which decisions you make depends on the ending you’ll get. Yes that’s right, multiple endings which means you’ll definitely want to replay this game over. Throughout the game you will meet several heroes and villain’s. Such as Black Cat, Wolverine, Venom, Vulture, Electro and Cage. Don’t worry there are several others that I didn’t name. You can also summon heroes and villains who you’ve aligned with during combat. The combat system has definitely been improved since the previous Spider Man games. Another cool thing about the combat is the combos, if you can keep it up you can stay mid-air for awhile. For instance the two battles against Vulture, you have to keep the combo up and keep webbing enemies because those battles are entirely in the air. The enemies you face are The Kingpins henchmen, gang members, symbiotes and boss’s. The missions are pretty simple and not super difficult. Web of Shadows is definitely the best Spider Man game to date and I definitely recommend it.

LEFT 4 DEAD
November 30, 2008 by jaws44 · Leave a Comment
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to fight in a zombie apocalypse, Well here’s your chance.
Valve’s newest game, Left 4 Dead, puts player’s in the perspective of one of four survivors. The survivors are Francis, who is a biker, Zoey, who is a collage student, Louis, who is a junior system’s analyst, and finally Bill who is a former Green Beret. The game takes place in, as you probably guessed, a city full of zombies. The game has four campaigns which are No Mercy, Death Toll, Dead Air, and Blood Harvest. But don’t worry each campaign has five levels. So you get twenty levels total. Each campaign takes about fifty minutes to about one hour and ten minutes. But I guarantee you will be having so much fun you wont even notice the time go by. There isn’t that many weapons but they pack a punch. Dual handguns, Uzi, shotgun/ auto shotgun, auto rifle, sniper rifle and pipe bomb and Molotov cocktail. This game has a single player, online co-op, and a VS mode. The single player is alright. You play as the survivor of your choice and the others are AI. The highlight of this game is defiantly the online modes. The co-op play is probably the best I’ve seen in awhile. It requires you to work as a team otherwise you will be zombie food. Staying together as a team is key if you go off by your self you’ll probably get killed off. At key points of the game you’ll have to summon the horde which is a big group of zombies and you have to survive it to move on to continue on through the level. At the end of each campaign after you call for the rescue vehicle you and your team have to hold off a huge horde. This is where the teamwork is most important, so before you call for help or summon the horde, strategize with your teammates to get a plan set. For instance, me and my team were at the end of Blood Harvest and we had to survive in a farm house. Well we made the plan up to hold one of the rooms up stairs, Two on the door and the other two holding the windows, and it was a great success. Just to let you know, when the escape vehicle is there that doesn’t mean the zombies are going to stop coming. Sometimes its more difficult to get to the escape vehicle then to hold off the horde. Finally the VS mode, which is like the co-op mode but the special infected are played by human players, which makes it all the more challenging. Look me up Jaws444 and we can go and kill some zombies. Definitely play the co-op first before attempting VS. All in all this is a great game that I definitely recommended.

Saints Row 2

Once again players get to walk the mean streets of Stilwater. Yes that’s right, the Saints Row series has made a return. You take on the role of the former Saints member which is the player’s custom character. You wake up from a five year coma caused by events in the first game. You start off in the prison hospital ward. Where you meet Carlos who helps you escape prison. After that you rescue former member Johnny Gat. Then you and Johnny put back together the Saints. Like the first game there are three major gangs the Ronin, Brotherhood, and the Sons of Samedi. Most of the game is spent taking on the gangs then taking on Ultor. Ultor is the corporation that moved into Stilwater while you were in a coma. The story is very good. I was actually shocked that I wanted to keep playing to find out what would happen next. As for the side quest they are still wacky and fun. To name a few, the classic Snatch and Hitman, but some of the newer ones are Septic avenger, where you drive around and spray sewage and waste on property and people. Also Fuzz is my favorite where you dress up as a police officer and make them look bad for the TV show fuzz. Another new feature, since you are the Saints leader, you can customize your gang. Another feature is you can buy shares in business’s and buy new cribs. There are several new weapons such as the taser gun, and the samurai sword. The combat system stays true to the original game. There is also a new music selection for this game. This is a very good game and I highly recommend it. So definitely get it.

007 Quantum of Solace

James Bond makes his return in the Quantum of Solace. This is probably one of the best Bond games since Golden Eye. Now I was skeptical myself when I heard this but its true. This game uses the Call of Duty 4 engine. The core game play is first person shooter which switches to 3rd person when you move into cover so you don’t forget your playing as Bond. The cover system is great. You can switch from one piece of cover to the next. Also while you are in cover there is a nice little blind fire system. Or you can opt to pop up and accurately hit targets. The downside to this is, you are exposed to gunfire. There are also several new weapons that Bond can use to take down enemies. Also a cool new feature is the take-down mode. Where you can silently take out enemies. Another cool feature is that this game comes with trophies. The single player follows the events of the Quantum of Solace and in between shows the events of Casino Royale. The online play was great. There are the normal game play modes like death match and team death match but the most interesting ones are Bond versus all and Bond Evasion Bond versus all is interesting because the player playing Bond must defuse bombs while trying to survive the other players. Sounds difficult but Bond gets two lives so if you mess up no worry you get one more try. Bond evasion is a spiced up version of team death match. The MI6 team must defend Bond so he can get to the escape point. If your playing Bond in this mode its awesome. Also in the online mode you earn money to unlock new weapons accessories and gadgets which are like perks. You can also get gold weapons. So the bottom line is this is a great game and finally is the first movie game in my opinion that is good.

Star Wars Force Unleashed
November 21, 2008 by jaws44 · Leave a Comment
The force unleashed is the newest entry into the star wars games. You take on the role of Darth Vader’s secret apprentice named Star killer. Story wise this is a very good game. I felt it did do a good job connecting episodes 3 and 4 together. You start off the game as Darth Vader in a battle on Kysheek. Where you fight your first Jedi battle. After which you meet a young Star Killer, and Darth Vader decides to take him on as his apprentice. While I found the story good the game play seemed a little mediocre. It felt like I was playing a simple hack and slash with force powers. Also for all the Star Wars fans you have to hit enemies several times with your light saber, so you can’t get your movie moment on where one slash is an automatic kill. The force powers were probably what I enjoyed about the combat system. There’s all your favorites like force push, pull, lightning, light saber throw, and my favorite force grip also known as force choke. One of my favorite things to do was to grip a enemy and lift them high in the air then drop them off a ledge. Another cool feature to the force aspect is upgrading your force powers. You get experience from defeating enemies and you upgrade three different categories one is where you upgrade the strength of your force powers. The next is force talents which is like raising health or force bar. The final is force combos so you learn different moves to take down enemies. The targeting system is pretty decent. The light saber duels get quite challenging and will definitely be the highlight of the game. You also can collect Jedi and Sith holocrons for extra unlockables. All in all this is a decent game and if your into star wars or into hack in slash definitely get it.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Once again game players get to take control of Harry Potter. You start off as Harry taking on the Dementors. After that battle you arrive at Hogwarts once there you can walk around the castle, run errands for friends in the DA(Dumbledore’s Army) to get them to go to practice. When you get certain people in the Room of Requirement you start to learn more combat spells. You also visit number 12 Grimold place and the Ministry of Magic. You also get to play as Sirius
Black, Fred and George Weasely, and Dumbledore. The spell casting system has been upgraded since the previous Harry Potter games. You have a manual spell system. So you move the joystick as a wand. For instance the incendio spell you move the joystick up, down, up, down and fire erupts from the tip of your wand. The combat is upgraded to. There are several duels which get quite fun at times. Another cool feature is the mini games which Harry Potter fans will know as Gob Stones, Exploding Snap, and everybody’s favorite Wizard’s Chess. My personal favorite is Wizard’s Chess. Also with the mini games there is Occlumency lessons. Which is where you move the wand in the opposite direction to stop whoever from accessing your memories. This mini game is okay but will get a little boring as time goes on. Also as you go along you unlock stuff in the Room of Rewards. Which is just a room with trophies and making of videos. One of the negative things I will say about this game is there is no play value meaning once you beat Lord Voldermort all you can really do is just walk around and it gets quite boring. So this is an okay game but I would probably recommend getting it used. Unless you are a big Harry Potter fan in which you will definitely want this so you can go be in the world of Harry Potter.

Goosebumps HorrorLand
November 13, 2008 by jaws44 · Leave a Comment
I must say that when I heard about a new Goosebumps game. I was quite excited being a loyal fan since I was a kid. But this game will dissappoint even the most hardcore Goosebumps fans. Unlike its predecessor Goosebumps Escape from Horror Land, this newer version is just boring. Pretty much the entire game play is just mini games. To explain the game simply, there are five sections to the park Carnival of Screams, Vampire Village, Fever Swamp, Mad Labs, and finally Terror Tombs. You start off in the Carnival of Screams and you play mini games to earn freights which unlock the other sections of the park. Freights are like medals for each game bronze, sliver, and gold. As for the mini games most of them are the same. Though the mini games are simple and come with instructions to play, you will find yourself becoming bored real quick. The funniest game would definitely be the bumper car games and I also liked the wire games, where you move a little metal circle through a electric wire while avoiding hazards such as magnets and other things. The main point of the game is to find the pieces to your ticket so you can escape. There is one piece of the ticket in each area of the park. The story is really simple and to the point you and a friend receive tickets to Horror Land then once you get there they rip up the ticket, thus leaving you to find the pieces. For the most part, I would not recommend this at all. While it has its decent moments there’s just to many bad moments to make up for it.

Gears of war 2

Gears of war 2
The war against the locust rages on in one of this months hottest games. You once again take on the role of Marcus Fenix. Not much has changed from the previous gears with the exception of a couple of things. For one thing, a lot of people hated how gears 1 was so short. Well no need to worry cause gears 2 is a lot longer. The combat system is still the same. But the chainsaw clash is a new combat feature where you and an enemy both chainsaw each other at the same time, you have to tap the b button really fast to break free and ultimately chop your opponent into pieces. Something else that is new is that you get to ride the Brumack and a Reaver. Another useful new feature is when you get shot down you can crawl out of danger so your teammates can heal you whether it be human our Locust. The story is the key point to this game it is awesome. you start off in the city of Jacinto at the hospital. Marcus and Dom meet with a trainee Carmine, and no its not the same Carmine that got popped off in the first game, its his brother. But they go through the normal training and of course Locust’s attack the city and you have to defend the hospital. While in the hospital you meet up with a fellow gear named Tai and let me say he wreaks. Then you move through and kill all locust forces. For those of you who are Baird and Cole fans no need to worry they do rejoin Delta later on in the game. The online play is really good and if you are some of the lucky few who got the codes for the golden lancer and golden hammer burst you are lucky. If your looking for a online game I’m Jaws444. So the bottom line for gears 2 is, get it. It is an awesome game and I really enjoyed it. So definitely join the gears and fight the locust’s to save all of humanity.

Oblivion: Game Of The Year Edition

Oblivion: Game of the Year Edition!!!!
One of the best games I played this year is Oblivion: Game of the Year Edition. It is also one of the longest games ever made. You start off in prision were you make your character. There are several different races such as Argoian, Breton, Dark Elf, High Elf, Imperial, Khajit, Nord, Orc, Red Guard, and finally Wood Elf. So as you can see there is plenty of different races and the full character customization is great. Now lets talk about the combat. Pretty much you can fight in third person are first person, I prefer first person myself. You can either use a single handed weapon with a sheild, or a two handed weapon, which the down side to that is you get no shield. There is also bows for archery and staffs for magic. Enemies very from different places if you go inside one of the Oblivion Gates you will see a whole lot of them, while if your just walking around the Plains of Cyrodil you will probably see an enemy every once and awhile . The types of enemies also very from ordinary animals such as wolves and such to dadrea which are pretty much demons. There is also mythological creatures such as minitaurs also human enemies, which also includes the other races to. Now like I said earlier in this review it is long, it has two continents, one being Cyrodil in which you play the Oblivion and Nights Of The Nine missions through plus all the guild quests and micalanus quests. Then there is the Shivering Isles which you guessed it is for the Shivering Isles main quests and side quests. The maps of Cyrodil and The Shivering isles is huge. Plus with the citys and towns you will have a lot to explore. The guild quest our very fun also there are the Fighters, Mage, Theif, and the Dark Brotherhood. These are all the Guilds, my favorite is the Dark Brother Hood. You have to do certain guilds quests if you want to access certain areas such as the Arcaine University you have to do the Mages guild quests. Another fun thing about this game is all the random things you can do. Like I actually broke into every store and stole everything then sold it to the theives guild for some extra gold. Now stealing isn’t has easy has it sounds sure its easy enough to get away with but if you steal to much at one time our talk to a guard with stolen property they will confront you. The guards in the game control the law and order so you cant just do whatever you want without consequences. They will normaly give you three options pay your bounty if you have the gold. You can also go to jail which will lower your stats. Our my favirot which is to resist arrest. Now resisting arrest will increase your bounty But it is fun. So I deffenitly suggest this game to all gamers it is one of the best RPG games ever made.
